What it is

  • FocusField: a 70 mm device plus a free app; set a focus zone from 20 cm to 10 m.
  • How it works: chosen apps lock inside the zone, return outside it; calls, music, maps and sign-in stay on.
  • Simple: a touchpad for music, flip it over for a short break, works offline, no subscription.
  • Markets: consumers first; education is the first institutional market, with room-by-room rules across whole buildings.
  • Longer term: one network across workplaces, government offices, healthcare and homes.

What I did

  • Lead the founding team of three, with Tymur Pryvalov (CTO) and Nikita Pchelin (COO).
  • Wrote all the software: secure device firmware, the mobile app, enterprise software and cloud infrastructure.
  • Product design and CAD for three hardware products, from prototype to design for manufacture.
  • Engineering: Kalman-filtered BLE distance, one-tap NFC pairing, custom ESP32 firmware with embedded security.
  • Run the company: fundraising, investor relations, marketing, legal, compliance, certification and admin.

Traction

  • £15k SEIS angel round raised; now leading the pre-seed raise.
  • Strand House 2026: one of 8 selected (under 0.1%), funded by Backed VC and Strand Ventures.
  • FocusField is consumer-ready, CE-certified and patent-pending, with a UK launch planned.
